Got Milk?....

In addition to the Fresh Eggs sign I made for my Mother's birthday (read the details here) I also made a smaller chalk-board sign with a vintage inspired "drink milk" image I designed. The first time I laid it out, I didn't take into consideration that I wanted the bottle shape cut out (not solid, with lettering inside)

See what I mean?  Which would have been fine I guess in another application, but just not what I wanted. And, of course, my 18 year old wanted to know why in the world I had put one of my "signs" on a cutting board.  Geez.... kids... they just don't get it!!  (it didn't stay there... but it was within arms reach at the time and I didn't want to waste the vinyl!)

This one will be perfect propped on top of her Hoosier Cabinet in the kitchen with her vintage tins, etc.  For me, I've got some hardboard lying around and think I'll turn this into a chalkboard with the image justified to the left... writing space to the right.  That should look pretty cool, I think!

Which Came First...

Okay...it's obvious I have a thing for signs.  And I could sit at my computer for hours using Photoshop- especially when I get an idea in my head.  My Mother's birthday is coming up soon, and I wanted to make something I knew she'd like.  My parents don't read my blog (heck, I have to call them ahead of time if I send them an email) so she hasn't seen any of the vintage signs I've been creating.

The creative juices must have been flowing pretty good on this day.... I had the design done in less than an hour and I love the way it turned out!  The frame was really what inspired me- it's an odd size (12 " square on the inside dimensions) and came just as you see it.... distressing and all.  It's the first one I've made when I haven't had to paint, wax and buff the frame before I could put it all together. And my Mother has a blue kitchen, so it was meant to be!

I have one identical frame left in my stash so I may have to make one for myself!

Vintage Inspired Chalk Board...

We've been busy gearing up for the summer season here and are so happy to see the local businesses sprucing up and re-opening their doors.  Welcome to the Outer Banks, visitors! 

Closer to home, we've been working on expanding our line of custom vinyl and vintage inspired advertising signs & chalk boards. 



This "Mercantile" board measures 12x16 (inside dimensions).  The frame is painted in a custom blend of ASCP in French Linen, Old White and a hint of Paris Blue. Perfect for keeping track of your groceries. 

Love the way this one turned out.... perfect for Father's Day!

This  one is based on the barbershop my sons would go to when we visited family in Mass.  It's one of my favorites.

And this is a sign I created for my son, Davis for graduation next week.  He wants to go into construction, so I chose the quote at the bottom for obvious reasons. 

All artwork is original and created in-house, with several designs to choose from.

The Chalkboards and Vintage Signs are now available in our space at Two & a Half Women (Elizabeth City, NC) and Sprycreek Home Furnishings (Corolla, NC).

We're also working on a custom order for vinyl wall art that we hope to share later this week.
